FESTIVALS AND CARNIVALS

The annual Brahma Rathothsava (Car Festival) is the major carnival of the Temple. Besides, the other important festivals include Souramana and Chandramana Sri Narasimha Jayanthi, Sri Bhashyakar’s Tirunakshatranm, Navarathri Uthsava, Azwars Thirunakshatrams, Vishnudeepa (Kartheeka Deepothsava), Republic Day, Independence Day, to name a few. All the rituals and festivals are conducted splendidly with tradition and gaiety. Veda and Dviya Prabandha parayana by Perumal and Tayaar Goshti is a common feature on most of the festive occasions.

SEVAS, KAINKARYAMS AND PRASADAMS

Generally, as desired by the Devotees, Thirumanjanam (Panchamrutha Abhishekam) is performed to the Supreme Being. One of the salient features during Thirumanjanam is (Manjekappu Seve) the Turmeric Alankaram to the Deity. The Seve is to be witnessed to be believed. On special occasions, Butter (Decoration) Alankaram, Kalyanothsavam and other Uthsavams are performed with prior intimation to Temple Priests and Authorities. All the Uthsavams (Procession) are conducted within the Temple Prakaram.
Bhagavad Mahaprasadam such as Kadambam (Vegetable Sambar Rice), Nimboo Bath (Lemon Rice), Puliyogare (Tamarind Rice), Ulandogare (Udad Dal Rice), Ellogare (Gingely Rice), Tengaogare (Coconut Rice), Ven Pongal (Porridge), Plain Rice, Rasam, Vegetable Sambar, Palya (Curry), Vangibath (Brinjal Rice), Sakkar Pongal (Sweet Porridge), Ksheeranna (Sweet Porridge), Rava Kesari Bath, Payasam [Akki (Rice), Savige (Vermicelli) Kadle Bele (Bengal Gram), Godhi (Wheet), Gasagase (Poppy Seeds)], Dadhyodhana (Curd Bath), Paniyarams (Sweets), Panaka (Lemon Juice) Kosambari, etc., can be prepared at Madipalli (Temple Kitchen) and offered to the Lord.

No eatable arranged outside shall be offered to the God and / or consumed inside the Temple precincts. There are certain restrictions about the usage of Edible Materials and Vegetables (Ahara Niyamam) in the preparation of Mahaprasadam inside the Temple Kitchen (Madipalli) which are to be expressly followed. The forbidden materials should not to be brought, prepared and offered to the Lord.

The Temple is in a remote area with negligible facilities. Every item for Pooja or Seva or Kainkaryam is to be meticulously arranged and carried to the temple either from Taluk Head Quarters Malavalli or Mysore / Bangalore. Hence, a couple of day’s prior intimation to the Temple Priests and Seva Trust is very much essential for making plans for Sevas and Prasadams. It will not be feasible to prepare and organise Sevas and Prasadams at very short notice. In this regard, the Devotees are kindly requested to help and co-operate with the Temple Priests / Seva Trust.
